The 25-Second Film Festival

LEGO® STAR WARS™

2024 marked the 25th anniversary of LEGO® Star Wars™.

We didn’t want to make it all about us, so we spent the year celebrating fan creativity.

Enter ‘The 25-Second Film Festival’. Fans were invited to make a film telling any story in any style they’d like - as long as it featured LEGO® Star Wars™ sets and was 25 seconds long… obviously.

In the end, over 2h 50m worth of films passed moderation and made it into the festival - that’s longer than any of the actual Star Wars movies. UGC works when your audience are fans who are inspired to make stuff.

We kicked things off by sending the Millennium Falcon™ into an asteroid field made of popcorn…

We also commissioned some 25s films from creators to inspire entries. Here are four of the nine we made...

We gave fans a kit full of pre-licensed tracks and official sound effects, as well as incentivising entries with exclusive rewards. The festival launched on May the 4th (seemed stupid not to) and fans’ films were streamed online and in stores.

Here’s the YouTube playlist featuring the fan films from the festival. There are 356, but Squarespace caps it at 200 for some reason. Link to full playlist here.
